Artist's Comments

This tree is invasive in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The GGNRA was originally mostly coastal dunes and grassland and trees like this which were brought over for their ability to grow really huge (good for lumber) spread really quickly...

I made this in 2009 out of two kinds of wire. The thinner one is gauge 24 or something and has a green tint...

Very nicely done! <3 the abstract expressive quality about it.

I tried to get some wire today for a project, but could not find the kind I really wanted, ... chance that I came upon your sculpture :-)

thank you! :D

Good luck with your project! Don't get hurt! When I was making this one the thin wire left a lot of little marks on my arms, but I thought they looked interesting so I didn't mind much.

Where did you look for wire?

Home Depot was out of the 20 & 24 and Ace only carries it in galvanized stainless, I wanted it in the lighter shinier silver to better reflect the light. I have some of it but it's too thick.
